Delna & Patrick's Bridgerton-Inspired Villa Montalvo Wedding

Villa Montalvo, Saratoga
- as seen on style me pretty -

When Delna & Patrick were first planning their Villa Montalvo wedding for spring of 2020, the world was in a different place and we had a different design planned for their wedding. A few design iterations later, Delna & Patrick were married in the fall of 2021, surrounded by their closest friends and family at the gorgeous estate. With the shift of season and the release of Bridgerton (which Delna loved), we landed on a palette that brought out the best of autumn in rich golds and dusty pinks, accented by a touch of blue a la Bridgerton. We wanted the overall design to feel romantic but effortless, blending seamlessly with the grand architecture of Villa Montalvo while maintaining a lighthearted atmosphere. Delna & Patrick were married in the Italianate garden, entering through the cypress tree-lined aisle and married between vine-covered columns. Their cocktail hour was held in the Oval Garden and Spanish Courtyard, where guests were greeted with comfy lounge seating with velvet ottomans and cushions as well as lawn games. Dinner followed on the veranda, which was capped off with cake, gelato, and a champagne tower, completing the perfect Montalvo Arts Center wedding.

A floral palette of lush blooms in gold and mauve tones complemented by organic foliage was the central focus of our design, adding color to our neutral tablescape. Our paper goods were also selected for organic texture: invitations on handmade paper, a hanging linen banner for our seating chart, and minimal menus with effortless calligraphy. Although we chose neutral tones for our tables, we created a palette rich in texture - whitewashed chairs, velvet tablecloths, gold-rimmed lacey glass chargers, sleek gold flatware, and the cutest hand-painted blue bread plates to complete our place settings.

We selected a hanging linen banner for our seating chart signage, choosing a light organic texture with flow and movement.

Little lounge vignettes were scattered across the lawn for cocktail hour, reminiscent of the outdoor garden parties from Bridgerton.

For our floral palette, we chose romantic blush roses interspersed with touches of the deeper colors of fall in the chocolate cosmos, lisianthus, and honey roses. Instead of a traditional meal indicator of a stamp or sticker on the escort card, we chose a different flower for each plate to represent each meal option. Blue accents were scattered throughout the tablescape, in the beautiful hand-painted blue bread plates and the pale blue linen napkin. To add luxurious textures, we selected gold-rimmed etched chargers and flatware, all placed on top of the softest velvet tablecloths.
